About

History

Smitty’s Camp has been licensed and in operation by the same family for 40 years! The facility began as a small in-home center and has grown over the years to become the outstanding campus that we offer today. Smitty’s Camp consists of acres of green grass, a lake, an in-ground pool, a ball diamond, sports field, and lots of room to run and play and just be a kid! Although we have grown over the years, we still maintain that “loving, family atmosphere” and the campers return year after year to see Ms. Michele, Ms. Linda all of the counselors who come back to work with us each summer. For 40 years, Smitty’s has given thousands of children camp experiences and friendships that they will cherish for a lifetime.
Philosophy

At Smitty’s Camp, we provide a nurturing, safe and fun-filled environment for all of our campers. We strive to introduce new skills and activities to the campers each day that will foster personal growth and development, help them gain confidence in themselves, build strong character and leadership skills, and also help them to learn to work together as a team. Whether it is through swimming, sports, imagination, music or other fun activities, our goal is to help your child grow in ways that will benefit them long after summer camp is over.
Programs

Our day begins with “Flagpole” where the campers take turns being in charge of raising the flag. They learn proper flag etiquette and respect and take pride in being a part of this daily activity. After the flag is raised and morning announcements are made, the campers divide into groups, according to age, and begin their fun day of camp activities. We offer day camp any time that Duval County Public Schools are out for summer, Christmas Break, Spring Break, and Teacher Planning Days. Smitty’s Camp also offers a “Mini-Camp” during the summer for children who are entering Kindergarten, and during school holidays throughout the year for VPK age children.
